Description Of Work:

Completely planned and landscaped front of house.

Member Comments:
Paul came over on a Friday and spent about three hours with my wife and I bacause we had no vision for the front of our house. We really needed someone like Paul that could look at the front of our house and come up with a plan that would fit the house and the neighborhood as well. Once he came up with a plan we approved it and work started within a couple of weeks. His attention to detail is off the charts. I really can't say enough about Paul and his crew. If you want it done right then he is the man to call.

Company Response:
We honestly had fun here. You guys were great to work for and you really deserved the makeover. I bet you're the envy of the neighborhood! I also appreciate you supporting a local business. We wouldn't be in business with out your patronage. We also appreciate those that support our business because we support New Hampshire Breast Cancer Coalition by donating 1% of our gross income per year. I will pass on this review to the crew. We thank you for using Angie's List and we look forward to serving you in the future.

Description Of Work:
I used Koehler Landscape Construction Services, Incorporated for landscaping and hardscaping services. They also planted trees and brought in loam. They put in a walkway. They put in landscape lighting. They pressure washed some of our existing hardscape. They designed the whole thing. They did a lot.
Member Comments:
We used the company because of his enthusiasm and his design. He really sold the entire package. He did above and beyond what the contract said also. They were punctual. He did what he said he was going to do. He showed up when he said he was going to. He did a great job. The work was expert work. He was very thorough. It looks great. I do not have any negative things to say.

Company Response:
Thanks for leaving us a great review. We really enjoyed working at your home and appreciated the hospitality. This was a fun project and we were as excited as you were to see it finished. We do appreciate your business and hope to see you for your future landscape construction projects. You have a beautiful home and a nice family. We will see you in the Spring for a checkup on the project. Take care!

Front yard drainage issues, walkway fixed, irrigation installed
Member Comments:
The Koehler Landscape Construction Services, Inc is amazing! We moved into a new build home where it had quickly become apparent that the builder didn't care about the outside of the house. We had rain water building up and running into our garage all because the grading of our front yard wasn't done correctly. Paul and his team put together a plan to help us save our new home! They tore up the front yard and fixed the grading. They also installed a beautiful stone walkway leading up to our front door. A week after the install we noticed water pooling in a corner of the walkway. We gave Paul a call and within a day he and his team were back pulling up stones and re-laying them! Their attention to detail is amazing! We will definitely use Koehler again!

Company Response:
Thanks for your business. We hate to see when when one of our customers has been taken advantage of by another contractor. Anyone can sell their self as a contractor, and often do, but we continually take advantage of the programs offered by our suppliers to stay current with advancing technology and code requirements for correctly installing things like walkways, patios, irrigation systems and more.
We want to thank you for supporting a local small business. Without your patronage we wouldn't be able to contribute to our community and support the local economy and workforce. In addition, we also wanted you to know that a percentage of this invoice will go to New Hampshire Breast Cancer Coalition. Their Support Services Fund is used to help local breast cancer victims pay for treatment and household expenses when they need it the most.

Thank you again for your great review. I will pass this review on to the crew. Tell Pierce and Maddy I said hello. I recently had surgery on my spine and have been out of commission but next summer I should be able to come by and take them for a ride in my fire truck.

Description Of Work:
Our house sits on a 5-acre lot. We had over 50 trees taken down by a logging company. We hired Paul Koehler to install a new lawn on 28,000 sq. ft. of cleared yard. The old existing lawn wasn't much of a lawn. It was mostly sand with crabgrass. From the moment Paul arrived at our home we liked him. He had a friendly but professional manner and was happy to answer all of our questions and concerns. He spent literally a couple of hours talking to us and walking the yard taking measurements  He took all of our wishes under consideration and sent us a written estimate and professional literature on an irrigation system within a couple of days. We had gotten another estimate which was cheaper, but decided to go with Paul's company because of his professionalism and experience, as well as his great reviews on Angie's List.

Member Comments: The landscaping consisted of separating the debris from the old topsoil and removing it but keeping the soil as a base for the new loam. They installed 4 inches of "super loam" on the whole yard and 6 inches in my new 24 ft by 12 ft garden. They graded the loam and regraded a portion of the yard that had too steep a slope. Paul and his workers were meticulous in making sure every detail was to our liking. They took the time to make sure it was done right. They had hired a plumber to come in ahead of time to install the hook-up for the irrigation. Paul and his guys installed the irrigation system with all controls in one location, making it easier for me to make any adjustments down the road. They installed the best quality and most durable sprinkler heads on the market. They again hand-raked to grade over the irrigation system. The final step was hydroseeding. Because it was the hottest part of the summer, Paul opted to seed only ryegrass and will return in the early fall to overseed with Kentucky bluegrass and fescue. This will allow for maximum germination of the seed. As I watched Paul and his workers work, I couldn't help but notice their attention to detail. It was like they were landscaping their own lawns!  My wife and I were thrilled with the outcome of Paul's tireless hard work, most of which was done in 90 degree heat and humidity. If you want your landscaping to be done right, you should seriously consider hiring Koehler Landscaping.

Company Response:
Thank you for the compliments! Bringing a concept to reality is what we specialize in, giving you only the best in quality and service is what we excel in. It nice to be recognized for doing a good job. We may not be the cheapest but we are the best for the price, proving you really do get what you pay for. We really like to connect with our customers and you were no exception. As our customers base grows so does our list of friends. You were easy to work with and and it was truly a pleasure to work at your home. You wanted a lot of grass and you certainly have it now! I look forward to seeing your lawn mature over the next couple of years.
I also want to thank you for supporting a local small business. Your business is appreciated. I will pass this review on to the crew.
In addition, we also wanted you to know that 1% of the invoice will go to New Hampshire Breast Cancer Coalition. Their Support Services Fund is used to help local breast cancer victims pay for treatment and household expenses when they need it the most.

Irrigation system and new lawn
Member Comments: My yard was a wreck! Then I had it dug up for a new leach field. Double mess! I knew I wanted a big, beautiful lawn and irrigation system put in but was clueless where to turn. I went to Angie's List and found Paul's name. He came by in April and I told him what I was looking to do. I had a lot of questions and he answered them all. There was still snow on the ground and he said he would start the install in early May when the weather turned a little warmer and less rainy. He oversaw everything from delivery of the organic soil and plumbing/irrigation install. He even let me drive his Bobcat! His estimate was his price, and it was very fair.
Being an anxious type, I called and emailed him many times after the work was done. Every time the grass looked to be growing too slow, too fast, when I saw an ant hill, or a mole hole or a week or had problems programming the watering unit, I called or e-mailed. Paul ALWAYS responded promptly and even came by a few times to check on the job's progress in person. Never any extra charge. He wanted to ensure the job was done right.
A few  times he sent one of his workers over to fertilize or over-seed. They were always courteous as well. The jobs were always performed on time.
It has been almost 6 months and my lawn is beautiful. I have plans to have Paul back next spring and expand on the work already done.
I give Paul Koehler my highest recommendation. You will be sorry if you don't use him for your project.
Company Response:
What a great review! I passed it on to the crew. We like being able to make your lawn come to life. When I stopped by to winterize your irrigation it looked awesome. Over the next couple of years it'll continue to mature and you'll have that beautiful lawn you always wanted. No worries about the multiple calls and emails. We put a lot of effort into making sure we take care of our customers and the effort pays off. As a landscape contractor in an area saturated with landscape contractors we differentiate ourselves by offering superior service at a reasonable price. We take pride in our work and your great reviews fuel us on. I'm looking forward to finishing the rest of your project over the next couple of years.
Thanks for supporting a local small business. Without our great customers we couldn't exist. Your support also helps our favorite charity, New Hampshire Breast Cancer Coalition, operate the Support Services Fund which helps local families affected by breast cancer. The fund pays bills and offers a little relief to those families when they need it the most. Thank you very much. Filled\Leveled an area that was previously wooded\forest area when we removed trees from a section of our front yard to get them away from the utility lines and in preparation of installing a fenced in area (for dog).

Member Comments:
Paul took the time to assess the need, discuss available options, explain what could and couldn't be done (and why), and even revisit the goal of the project to ensure we're on the same sheet of music.  The work was done while we were on vacation.  When we got back, we were extremely happy with the work as it looks marvelous and natural for the area (side yard) being filled\leveled with the surrounding ground (front and back yard).  We no longer have a 2 foot or so drop off.  The fence being installed (by a supplier Paul recommended) looks great and has an even ground line to follow, it flows nicely.  I would highly recommend Koehler Landscape Construction Services, Inc. and will have another project for them to do in a year or so.

Company Response:
We couldn't be happier to know we've hit the mark when it comes to customer satisfaction! I will pass this on to the crew. You were great to work with too, and you have a very nice family. I really appreciate your business. A lot of trees came out of that area! You will enjoy your new yard and we really look forward to working with you on future projects. Thanks for your patience during our busy season too.

Your support also gives me the opportunity to give to a charity that is close to my heart. After losing a family member to breast cancer over a decade ago the urge to raise awareness and offer financial support has never been stronger. We donate a portion of the proceeds of each job to New Hampshire Breast Cancer Coalition. This organization is doing a tremendous amount for the community. Their team of hard working volunteers search for ways to help victims of breast cancer when all the odds seem stacked against them. The Support Services Fund is a resource for patients who have exhausted all other options for financial assistance.
Donations are used to pay for breast imaging or diagnostic services, cost of treatments (including prescriptions), transportation, childcare, or household expenses. Your patronage allows us to give back to those that need it the most. Please see our video to raise awareness that features our pink snow plows! http://www.imownh.com/our-outreach.html
Thank you so much for supporting a local small business and our favorite charity.

Description Of Work:

Our house had a runoff problem from an unpaved public road.  During times of heavy rain or snow sand would runoff into our driveway and yard.   We also had problems getting boxed in during winter because of snow plows.  Paul came over and immediately saw the problem and came up with a solution.
Member Comments:
Paul saw that a driveway extension that we had was not graded properly so he expanded the area and graded it.  On our request he added a new crushed stone parking area giving us more room to park without getting boxed in by snow and plows.  He uses rocks from a stonewall to buttress the driveway.  He tore up our asphalt driveway and put in more crushed stone to provide continuity of the parking space.  He also dug a swale to carry runoff from the unpaved public road before the runoff reached our driveway.

Paul is a very nice guy who is detail oriented and knowledgeable.   His quote was on the money.  I definitely would trust him on advice on any kind of landscaping task.

Company Response:
It was a real pleasure working at your house. Drainage is one of our specialties. One of the worst things a homeowner can deal with is water going in places where you don't want it. We hope to see you on future projects!

Replaced/installed new sprinkler valves.  Reconnected zones to newly installed backflow preventers.

Member Comments:
I contacted Koehler Landscape Construction Services because I had to have a sprinkler system reconnected up to some newly installed backflow preventers and to have new valves installed and reconnected back up to the controller box.  The system was home owner installed and a bit of a Rube Goldberg.  Paul came out and talked to me, looked at the system.  He laughed, saying he gets this quite a bit.  Anyway, he assured me that it wasn't a problem and he'll get me a quote.
Now I will tell you that Koehler Landscape is not the cheapest out there, however you do get what you pay for.  Paul uses the best quality materials  and no detailed is excluded.  The installation was extremely neat and the ground was restored and the work area cleaned up.   Unless you looked, you would not know the ground was disturbed.  All of the wires were neatly tacked into place.
If you are looking for the best irrigation installation/repair that you can get, I easily recommend Koehler Landscape Construction Services.  You may pay a little more up front, but it will save you in time, money and overall aggravation in the long run.

Company Response:
Thanks for your business. We often see irrigation systems that were installed incorrectly and in need or repair, or just updating. The pride we put in our work often goes unnoticed. Though much of our irrigation installations are installed underground, or in areas not seen, we put extra effort into making sure the installation is neat and easy to service. Anyone can sell their self as an irrigation installer, and often do, but we continually take advantage of the programs offered by our suppliers to stay current with advancing technology and code requirements for installing irrigation systems correctly. We offer great systems that conserve water and last for years, keeping your turf areas properly and efficiently watered.

Fall cleanup - front and back - rake leaves, trim brush along stone walls near road and woods in back.

Member Comments:
We moved to Amherst in October 2013. Did not know anyone, but through some stroke of good fortune, we contacted Paul Koehler for landscaping. He rescued us then, clearing up a nightmare of leaves and overgrown brush. And he has continued to rescue us. He takes care of our spring cleanup, Sprinkler shut off and turn on and mowing as well.
What impresses us most about Paul is that he is 100% reliable, honest and professional. More than that, he has become a true friend...more than once we had quirky home problems and he was here in a flash. Paul really cares!!!!
Just as important, his team mirrors his work ethic - they are responsible, courteous and do a wonderful job!
We HIGHLY recommend the Koehler Landscape Construction Company.

Company Response:
You are definitely one of our most favorite customers! Thanks for the awesome review. We passed it on to the crew and they wanted me to tell you they appreciated it too. We do not solicit reviews so when we see one in the inbox it is great to see who its from and what they say. You've quickly become a friend and I'm looking forward to taking your husband fishing this summer. Thanks to for supporting a local small business. We work hard to give back to our community including one that is close to your heart as a writer, the Amherst Public Library. We support Friends of the Amherst Town Library Student Art and are looking forward to seeing your grandson's art work displayed there too.
Thanks too for helping us support a cause that is close to our heart, New Hampshire Breast Cancer Coalition. We are really fueled to give to their Support Services Fund. I chose Paul from the reviews on here.  Initially it was a challenge to hook up.  It took him a while to return calls.  He stated it was a very busy time for them.  I feel he gave an honest assessment of the work that needed to be done.  He also gave a lot of helpful free advice.  :)   Once I agreed to his estimate, he was quick to fit us in.  A couple things stood out:  When they finished filling in the sink holes, I felt a couple areas looked like they needed more dirt.  He quickly sent his guys out to do it.  The week before he was to come do the work, a mama bird set up camp in the yews with her new babies.  I told Paul my daughter was worried about them.  He delayed trimming them until the babies left.  I feel Paul & his crew are conscientious, honest & friendly!

Company Response:
Thanks for giving us a great review! We were glad t0 welcome you to the area. Thanks to for your patience. With the Winter lasting longer than usual our cleanups from snow plowing, irrigation startups, Spring leaf cleanups and design build jobs all slammed us at the same time! Sorry for the slow response time. Thanks for your patience. We hope we were able to get your property in the shape it need to be. We look forward to working with you in the future. Your daughter has a fun place to play in the backyard now.
Thanks for reading our reviews. We don't ask for reviews even though we work for a lot of Angie's list members. If someone leaves a review it was because they felt compelled to and the reviews reflect that. We truly appreciate all our Angie's List customers.m I'll pass the review on to the workers that were on the job.
I personally want to thank you for supporting my business because it helps me support my cause, raising awareness for breast cancer and helping local families affected by this terrible disease pay their bills. Extensive weeding, brush cutting, mowing and mulching to prepare a house for sale.

Member Comments:
The landscaping at our second house had been neglected too long, and weeds were growing everywhere. In some parts, they were more than six feet tall. Plants had also encroached on the 700' driveway and tree branches were overhanging it. We needed to clean it all up to prepare the house for sale.
Paul responded to my inquiry almost immediately. Although Mont Vernon is not a town he usually covers, he agreed to do this as a one-time job. We met him at the house, with one of his staff, and walked around everything multiple times. Paul pointed out things that needed to be done and identified plants that should be saved.
The next week, two workers, both named Jake, showed up and got to work. They spent two full days on the cleanup effort, clearing the jungle of weeds and applying mulch to make it look fabulous. The driveway was cleaned up with brush cut back away from the edges and overhanging branches cleared. Lastly, on the third day, the grass was mowed and a set of old wooden stairs was hauled away.
Communication was excellent as was the professionalism if Paul and his crew. I would definitely use his services again, and since he does cover Nashua, where I live, I will likely do so!

Company Response:
We couldn't be more pleased to see this review when we got back from vacation! We like transforming landscapes and work hard to make sure we're exceeding customers expectations. We go the extra mile literally, even going outside our service area to ensure we are taking care of Angie's List customers. This house is in a beautiful setting and I have no doubt it will sell easily. Jake and Jake were the best crew to send to this job. I passed the review on to them and they appreciated the compliments.
Thank you very much for supporting a local small business. We appreciate the patronage. Thanks too for helping us contribute to our cause, New Hampshire Breast Cancer Coalition. With your help they are able to keep the Support Services Fund going. It helps the many New Hampshire residents affected by this devastating disease by paying household bills incurred during treatment. We look forward to serving your future needs as well. Maintenance on lawn sprinkler system, replaced outdated sprinkler controller and fixed and replaced broken sprinkler heads which were damaged from sitting dormant for a few years.

Member Comments:
Paul performed maintenance and repair on my lawn sprinkler irrigation system. I had left the system dormant for three years after purchasing the house, so I knew it would likely take a lot of work. The estimate for the work seemed fair, and Paul did what he could to keep the price reasonable.
Paul replaced the old controller with a nice modern unit and got the sprinkler heads running again. He found a couple of pipes which had burst due to improper winterization and fixed them at no additional cost.
I was impressed with Paul's efforts to have a fair price for service and keep customers happy. He is also a friendly and easy guy to talk to, and explains things well. I definitely plan to use Koehler Landscape for future work.

Company Response:
Thanks a lot for your kind review. You were very easy to work with and I look forward to working with you in the future. I believe we were referred to you by another good customer. We love referrals and we like it when we know we've satisfied a good customer. Thank you for supporting a local small business. We work hard to keep our local community and economy strong. Keeping with that goal we donate 1% of our gross revenue to New Hampshire Breast Cancer Coalition. With NHBCC's low administrative costs the donations largely go to their Support Services Fund. This fund directly benefits local families affected by breast cancer. This cause is dear to our heart because we lost my cousin Ericha to breast cancer 10 years ago. Thank you for choosing Koehler Landscape Construction Services, Inc and helping us to support this cause.

Removed overgrown shrubs and bushes, trimmed back the remaining and graded/seeded a small hill adjacent to the driveway.

Member Comments:
Paul did a phenomenal job!  After neglecting the larger landscaping issues around our house for quite awhile, we needed some help with all the overgrown greenery, a hill that was starting to erode and trees that had taken root.  Paul came by and gave us an estimate for clean up, trimming and (at the time) instllation of a small retainnig wall.  Due to budget constraints, we decided to scale back the project and eliminate the retaining wall.  Paul sent us a second estimate and managed to squeeze the work in while we were on vacation. After removing nearly 1,000 pounds of yard waste, you'd hardly recognize that it's the same yard!  Paul met ever expectation and I plan to use his services again in the future... maybe for the backyard this time!  Thanks again!

Company Response:
Thank you very much for your review. We were glad take care of the "forest". We've certainly tackled worse. It should be a lot easier to take care of now! We look forward to coming back to take care of the back yard. We try to work with any budget, large or small. No worries there.
We want to thank you for supporting a local small business. Without your patronage we wouldn't be able to contribute to our community and support the local economy and workforce.
In addition, we also wanted you to know that 1% of this invoice will go to New Hampshire Breast Cancer Coalition. Their Support Services Fund is used to help local breast cancer victims pay for treatment and household expenses when they need it the most.

I had a lot of deferred maintenance. Paul and I reviewed the list of tasks to prioritize and adjust (for example, we didn't fertilize the rhodies because it would have been too much stress in the heat). The two-man crew worked all day and Paul chipped in to get everything done. I was very pleased with how my yard looked.

Company Response:

Paul rocks! Very professional and knows his trade. Had lots of helpful advice beyond the services offered. It did take a few weeks to schedule an appointment, but this was because he's so busy. After seeing his work I'm not surprised. I fully expect we'll be using Koehler on a regular basis.

Company Response:

Helping people to increase curb appeal when listing a house for sale is one of our popular services. We realize that one of the first things a perspective buyer does after looking at the house online is drive by to see how it looks from the outside. No matter what the pictures look like online a less than appealing landscaping can drive a buyer away. Thanks for supporting a local business!

Fully re-scaped front and side yard, brought in 50+ yards of soil and added hydroseed.
Member Comments:
Paul arrived originally due to a request for a hydroseed of our front yard after having the yard worked on in September of 2012.  Paul investigated and noted two major issues.  The first was a massive grub infection and the second was that there was almost no top soil.  We were informed that the previous contractor put down a skim coat of topsoil which was just enough to appear okay for a year before running out of nutrients.  Paul suggested a grub treatment and then recommended the proper amount of soil to redo the yard (50+ yards instead of 15-20 yards as was previously suggested).  After agreeing on the work we scheduled a time and the soil was delivered promptly (after a slight weather delay due to rain).  To reduce costs we did not have the old soil stripped out and just had 4 inches of topsoil/loam brought in.  We treated for the grubs and then had the work performed.
The work was completed in one full day and looked great.  They even worked around the irrigation system we had installed which was a tremendous relief as the additional soil was a potential issue with the height of the sprinkler heads.  Paul then suggested a water schedule and he even checked on the yard every week or so to see how it was going (which, due to the weather was a bit sporadic).  Nearly all of the grass grew in with a few exceptions.  One area was not getting watered properly while two other areas just failed to grow.  Paul responded pro-actively and added seed in the sparse areas and even added fertilizer to get us through the winter (at a reasonable rate - the seed he did for free).  Those areas just about grew in before the weather turned but Paul has guaranteed that he will get those areas growing when spring returns.
Paul's responsiveness and communication has been above expectations.  He has always responded to questions and has been very proactive to ensure that our needs/expectations are met.  This is such a different experience from our previous contractor who showed up and left us with a poor excuse for a lawn.
We would highly recommend Koehler Landscape to anyone.  We will post pictures as time allows.

Company Response:
My crew and I were so happy to see this review. I really felt bad that this customer had been so taken advantage of in the past. Unfortunately it is all to common in the landscaping profession where a wheel barrow, a lawnmower, a truck and a shovel puts someone in business. There's a lot more to performing landscaping correctly than most people realize. An opportunity to make things right again that is truly appreciated means so much. We want to keep our customers for life so we work hard to keep you happy. We also appreciate your supporting a local small business that hires locally. Your patronage contributes toward the growth our community. Enjoy the Winter and we'll look forward to seeing the new lawn emerge in the Spring. We'll be by to patch the thin areas as promised. Thanks again!

Aerated, seed, and fertilized front yard
Member Comments:

When Paul came to give me a quote, my front yard was a disaster. He took the time to check my entire property and gave me great advice on how to approach my landscaping objectives. The results speak for themselves as you can see in the attached photos. More importantly to me, he is incredibly responsive and helpful. I don't know a lot about landscaping (hence the issues I had with the front yard) and Paul was very helpful with questions I had and the approach I should consider when planning this, and upcoming projects. He promptly returned every email and was very willing to put up with all of my questions, and I had a lot. We're moving forward with Koehler for our fall cleanup and annual fertilizing plan. I'm sure there'll be more projects and there's no question we'll be working with Koehler landscaping to help with them.

Company Response:
If only I could get a review like this every day from one of our much valued and appreciated customers! Our motto is "Large enough to get the job done. Small enough to care", and it's with this in mind that we try really hard to keep you happy. What a joy it is to find out we are fulfilling this mission. I may've said this before, but without you, our customers, we would be nothing. It is truly a pleasure to serve you.
When we find a new customer that wants to improve or expand their outdoor living space we take their ideas home with us and continue to work long after we left their property. If you're looking to take advantage of the short summers in New England we specialize in designing outdoor extensions of your indoor living space. Of course, (Member name removed)
already had a good start before we came to do the free site evaluation but we can see plenty of ways to expand this great start. It will be a pleasure to work together on future projects.
It is also nice to see a homeowner that wants to have an active part in maintaining the landscaping. We know it's hard work and we respect your contributions. Whatever you need us to do we will be there. We are looking for long term relationships with awesome customers and want to thank you again for choosing us and keeping business local. Your review will be passed on to the crew that performed the work as they also appreciate the commendation. Thanks again for the awesome review! We can't wait to see how your lawn is progressing next year!

This was a complete re-do of the yard. Numerous large trees were removed and a new vinyl fence installed. We hired Koehler Landscaping to clear our rear property line, build a stone retaining wall, service all of our planting beds, prepare the soil and install sod, and install an irrigation system.

Member Comments:
From the beginning I was quite comfortable working with Paul. He takes the time to discuss options and his reasoning behind his recommendations. His crew were all very hard working and professional, even through the miserable heat we have experienced lately. I would not hesitate to use them again and highly recommend them to anyone in need of landscaping services.

Company Response:
No hesitation in saying we loved working with you and it was a pleasure to work on your property. It came out awesome! We really appreciated the cooler full of ice cold drinks every day. You were a great host. The guys will appreciate seeing the review. We really try hard to make our customers happy, large jobs or small jobs, and it fuels us on to walk away from a job with happy customers then later to see good review. Many thanks for the review, the work and the hospitality. I'm looking forward to seeing the property this Fall when we winterize the irrigation. Thanks for using Angie's List and for supporting a local small business. We look forward to working with you in the future. Enjoy the rest of the summer in your new yard!

Spring cleanup of a large area of shrubs and lawn, a ton of bark mulch, new plantings.

Member Comments:
We've always been do-it-yourselfers for landscaping but this year we were running late and decided to hire someone to do the spring cleanup and spread bark mulch. Paul came out promptly and gave an estimate, was able to fit us in quickly, did great work and the price was considerably lower than the other firm I got an estimate from. I couldn't be more pleased with Paul and his crew and the quality of their work, even though mine was a fairly small job. I am now thinking of other landscaping work that I will ask Paul to do!

Company Response:
We sure do love our customers and you're no exception. Large or small we value all of our customers the same. For do-it-yourselfers you've done a great job with your landscaping. The crew found it easy to work there. We always pass the reviews on to our employees and they said thank you too. We'll gladly come back to do more work there. Thank you for the business and for your supporting a local business. We look forward to serving you on your future projects.

Description Of Work:

Landscaped the driveway entrance to the house property, the front lawn, and a part of the back of the house.

Member Comments:
This was the first Angie's list contracting job for me and I was a bit nervous. As it turned out, Paul Koehler was a perfect fit for my landscaping needs.  He understood exactly what I needed and was able to suggest the best plants/materials and ways to approach the project to bring it together within my budget.
At the driveway entrance, he planted eight boxwoods and covered the area with a dark compost mulch.  Paul spray marked several small trees for me to cut down to open things up a bit.  I have received numerous positive comments from neighbors and friends since on how nice it looks.
He taught me about the concept of what I call "leading the eye."  This means drawing the viewer's eyes to what you want them to see and away from things and areas you don't want them to see.  You don't have to spend lots of money on areas of the property if you can focus on certain places that you want to be drawn into.  I liked that approach.
He detached my small front lawn, over seeded, tested the soil, limed, and fertilized it.  After the current rain we had, the grass looks terrific and has filled in all the bare spots.  In the back yard he dug out 3 foot wide trench around the screened-in porch and patio and put in 3/4 inch gravel. He also put loam and tilled in a garden area just for wild flowers.  I'm anxiously waiting for them to sprout.
Overall I am very pleased with the work that Paul and his crew did for me.  They were all hard workers during the entire day. Paul was very helpful to me when I asked questions and took the time to discuss things with me. I never felt rushed or that my job was too small for him.  I would recommend Paul Koehler's Landscape Construction Services to anyone.

Company Response:
Our proudest moments in business are when we realize that we've exceeded our customers expectations. Your appreciation gives myself and our team a big boost. When the days go hot and long, or turn into weeks and months it makes us feel good to know the work we do is appreciated and I'm proud when I see the client appreciate our crew's skill. This business is really about people and it's been great working with you. Your home is in a beautiful setting and it was a truly a pleasure to work there. Thanks for your hospitality, the glasses of ice cold water really hit the spot. We will continue to strive to accomplish the mission we set from the very beginning - to exceed our clients expectations every time. Thank you for keeping business local and for the awesome review! Take care.
